Starting Taper Off Xanax

Hello fellow Benzo Buddies, after unacceptable tapering programs I am starting my own slow taper as my body and brain allows .I have used Xanax for 15 years. Current dose 1mg four times daily. Joined site to see what others have done to  be successful with tapering, support, learning withdraw coping ideas and gaining and sharing knowledge of Benzos.

It sounds like you already have a taper plan in place but if you are looking for information about what others are doing you might want to start on the General Taper Plans board. Another board that might be of interest to you is the Withdrawal Support board. There you will be able to find answers to non taper related benzo questions.

 

Are you familiar with The Ashton Manual? It is great resource for anyone who is withdrawing from benzodiazepines.

 

Also, when you get a chance it would be helpful for you to create a signature line so other members are able to provide support based upon your situation. Click here when you are ready to create your signature.

Welcome  Florida Guy sent you a link to the Ashton Manual. It is a great resource on benzodiazepines, and can really give you a better understanding on why you feel the way you do. I read it from front to back when I joined benzobuddies. You have been on a high dose of Xanax for many years so in order to minimize symptoms I personally would do a slow taper. You said you were on a slow taper now. Did you start your taper at a dose higher that 4 mg a day?
