it's time to get better

I'm browsing the posts from you here trying to get power and assurance that my case is normal. Some months ago, before the taper and meanwhile it..as Diazepam had its soothing effect I was full of life and activity, not thinking about what to do, where to go, things were natural even if the last 2-3 years I'd been suffering from tolerance w/d.Now I'm paralized, scared and cannot believe that for all the suffering from the last months there are still awful symptoms, which seem to be getting worse and stronger since 4 weeks. I took my last dose of Diazepam on July 16- for 3 weeks I felt quite myself but since 3 weeks.... :o..The level of anxiety has reached a very severe point and plus insomnia came. Waves of panic are coming too and I'm really devastated.

Last night I was seriously thinking of taking a Diazepam but knowing the vicious circe I resisted the temptation..I'm thinking of taking Trazodone which I don't know but there are good opinions about it....just unfortunatelly I lost my trust in drugs and there can be unpredictable effects which may hinder the recovery?? But facing these bad anxiety spells I cannot drop the idea.

How can one go through this awful route???I used to be and  I  AM famous for pain- endurance, what others took too bad to tolerate I simply cope with it-but this case, this is not about it...I don't consider myself to be a weekling but now I seriously feel such life is not life, and how much is the limit we or I can reach? OK. I do my daily routine but nothing is good, enjoyable...Nothing.

Í feel ashamed whenever I meet somebody as my appearance suggests there is something bad with me...

What makes me sad and worried is the unsure outcome. Is it normal that one can feel worse 4 weeks after being Benzo free then just after it?

It's so hard and me, who used to help others...now  I badly need some help.

Love to you all

I felt really bad one week after being benzo free and it is common to feel crappy in the early months. I would dispose of the diazepam so you do not have any risk of taking it. A sleeping pill may help you to experience less time spent suffering. I wish you the best of luck.

Hello Hope

I know how bad it is right now, I have been were you are at. You are still in the acute stage, this is when you will be tempted to take this pill again. Don't listen to it, you can get passed this, it will ease off with a bit more time. Its very normal to feel worse! Stay positive and just remind yourself, "you will not be like this forever!

You have to find ways to distract...I know its difficult but try anyway. Your favourite music, relaxation tapes, anything to take your mind off symptoms just for a few minutes! I know your suffering, but remember its temporary I promise you that you can get passed this and life will come good again, it just takes a time.

It will get better

Hi Hope, don't feel ashamed , Benzo-wd can be the hardest thing to go

through, might even bring King Kong to his knees.

For the last 21 months i've been reading, searching , comparing non stop.

I've come to the conclusion that recovery process happens in 6 months circles.

every 6 months there seems to be a turning point, rare cases have recovered,

others recover at 12-14 months, others have a big turning point at 18 months,

plenty of success at 24 months and so it goes.

If i were you i would push through , no Diazepam , nothing. Anxiety is a horrible sx

but it will pass . yes its quite normal to feel like this at 4 weeks off.

my wd started at 6 weeks off and took me by surprise .

Kepp going girl, one day at a time and soon you will be in a position

to support others, you'll see. :):smitten:

I like Rarthy's suggestion - throw out the valium pills. Who needs temptation????

Trazedone is generally a safe drug. It helps some people with sleep and depression. I wanted to try it but my doctor said no because it does have a risk of cardiac trouble for older women. I have know many people who use it without any problem.

This is a really interesting observation. I am noticing the same cycles. What do you think determines an individual's turning point? In other words, is it the length of time on a benzo, dosage, something else?

At first i thought the length of time and dosage must have something to do

with it , but then i've seen so many different cases here , where this theory doesn't

fit , therefore i dare not give an opinion because it seems to be more complex

than the first landing on the moon. ;)

It embarrasses me that some will count the months since the first cut, some only after being benzo free..How can we calculate then?

The way i see it, minor ' healing ' does take place as soon as people taper off according

to Prof, Ashton's method. Gabaa receptors have the chance to slowly return .

The real healing begins as soon as people are off completely.
