I really messed up, took 8 somas over  4 days, had no clue they acted on gaba receptors. Wondering just how badly I messed up, feel like I'm right back in acute and terrified. Was about to go to the er when I realized what Id probably done, decided to try and ride it out. Needless to say, despite preexisting terrible joint issues, I have a substance abuse problem, to have taken something like somas(old script) without understanding the risks. Thanks all. Just a mess today, had to beg my wife not to throw me out.

You really messed up. Maybe back to the beginning but maybe not as bad as it can only take one dose to throw you back to the beginning or in acute.  Especially since they work on gaba. The good new is it might not be as bad. Just ride it out and please don't take anything else in WD so you can heal buddy. Maybe get help for substance abuse and relearn how to live and enjoy sobriety. It will also make this WD easier.

I do not think it matters if they act on gaba receptors, I think you are mentally working yourself up making it seem like you're in acute. I can assure you, your brain has healed over the 80+ days you refused to take a benzo. I do not think taking a few pills who work on the same receptors will do too much harm. Perhaps they might slow your progress down maybe a little? I have taken stuff that acts on gaba receptors during benzo w/d including valerian and chamomile tea and looking back I mentally worked myself up after discovering they worked on the same receptors. They really did not do any damage. You've done well jack I think now you must find ALL of the strength you have from your past and in the present and in the future and manifest it fully within yourself.

Rarth... chamomile tea works on GABA?  Here I am stirring the bag in a cup of c'mile tea as I read this  :o

Off to do a bit of research on that...

Take heart, Jack.  I've made a few mistakes in my taper/w/d & I'm still relatively "ok" & seeing little improvements all the time.  Our incredible bodies are pretty damned forgiving.  Do your best to get back on track.  Peace to you, bud.

Thank you so much R., bless you!

Anytime man. I wish you the best of luck. I mean logically think about it. Your brain went a whole 80 days without anything acting on those damaged sites. Of course they have made lots of healing and repairing progress. Taking 4 pills that affect the damaged sites could not have ENTIRELY reversed all of the healing from 80 days. That makes absolutely no sense. It would make sense that it has slowed down or prevented SOME healing but I cannot see it doing too much damage. If you can make it a few more months perhaps you will see a lot of improvement. I am getting quite well. You will too man.

Yeah I think you set yourself back a little l, maybe a few weeks but you're definitely not back at the start. I remember recently I was in a bar with some friends and I was drinking some lemonade out of a jug, then I thought I tasted some alcohol and it sent me into a panic because I thought I was goin to mess up my recovery, but there wasn't any booze in there and I calmed down after about 30 minutes.

Is dont think your at the beginning but maybe a flare UUP or setback..anything acting on our sensitive bodies and are gaba ergic will definitely cause these setbacks and potentially back to the beginning in some people. I think you'll be ok after awhile. DONT TAKE GABAERGIC DRUGS. And get help with your problem if you want true change.

Thanks Life, I am in the process of getting help, at least this is a wake up call. No excuses, I effed up badly. I'm lucky to still have my wife. I denied the family genes for a long time, the chronic pain is real but I used it as an excuse, no more.

Aw, Jack. I hate you're still suffering with all of this. Hang in there, man. You're going to come out of this even stronger.

I'm glad you're seeking help. And very glad you're still here.  :)
