Below is a recent pod cast featuring 2 prominent Australian Addiction Specialists.  The majority of the callers discuss their battle with  Codeine dependency which is both prescribed and over the counter.  Benzo's are mentioned as they are not the first line of treatment of anxiety and other disorders.  These specialists understand the physical and mental health issues these drugs cause offering support via shared care with a G.P., physiologists, drug and alcohol counsellors and much more.

Much research and support is going into Addiction Science in Australia, our Dr's are becoming more and more aware that the damage these drugs cause and the laws of prescription are becoming very strict.  Australia recognises that many of us have become dependent accidental as we were prescribed by well meaning Dr's.  Below is a link to a group of addictive medicine specialists in one of our states.  The similar help is offered in all states as it has become part of our guidelines.

It has LF, that is why you now see Australians on here asking for help to taper!  The Dr's that continue prescription, not adhering to guidelines risk investigation and possible loss licence.
