Hi,

I was prescribed some lorazepam (ativan) on an as-needed basis for anxiety.  However, I may have used it too often, and may have a dependence.  Now that I know more about this stuff, I want nothing more than to be rid of it.

Hi snapster and welcome to BenzoBuddies!    We're glad you've found us. You will find many resources here on benzodiazepines. Ativan is a very potent medication. It is 10 times stronger than valium and is very addictive. You don't say what dose you were on or how long you have been on them. Both will play a part in planning a taper.

 

We generally recommend a taper rate of about 5-10% every 10-14 days for long term use, though individual  rates vary.  Here are a few links you'll find useful.
