Everyday Anxiety

I was on benzos for years about 14 without issue. I was taking .5mg Klonopin Daily along with Zoloft 100mg. I eventually dropped the Zoloft to see if the .5mg Klonopin would carry me. I did this in Nov of 2013. Everything was fine. I suffer from anxiety disorder. However I had surgery to remove half my thyroid in March of 2014. Surgery went fine and I was feeling great. However in May doctor suggested hey why not give synthroid .50mcg a try so that we don't overwork your exisiting lobe. My thyroid levels were all fine but it made sense to me at the time so I went along with this. Low and behold after two weeks on this I developed heart palpitations and very high bp so I stopped the synthroid. Well after stopping the synthroid everything went to hell in a hand basket. I had constant adrenal surges throughout my body. The only want to control these was to increase the klonopin. I was up to .5 (3x day). Now the surges have abated somewhat and now I just have constant annoying low level of adrenalin or cortisol going though my body. Feels electrical at times. I am down to 1mg of Klonopin as I didn't feel the need to take it three times a day. Not sure what is causing my symptoms now. I have been off the synthroid for going on 12 weeks so it cannot be side effects from that. Only thing I can think of is maybe the klonopin is now perpetuating the symptoms? I never had this before. This constant adrenal or rush. Have had so many tests for Catecholamines levels (24 hour urine). Thyroid tests. Everything comes back normal however I am not a constant nervous wreck. I used to think panic attacks were bad. At least they ended. This starts in the am, lasts all day long until evening and then abates. Evening is my best time. Anyone have any ideas? I know this might be off topic or I may not be in the correct area to post this. Its driving me crazy and I do not see a future for me any longer. I envy people that are in there 80s and wish I were them so I wouldn't have long to live. It is that serious. right now I am sitting here typing and my hands are electrified. like I have current going through them. It will get worse by noon. Only thing that helps is taking the damn klonopin. So I am not sure if its the klonopin that is causing this. I used to be able to skip a day of klonopin because of the long half life. Now I have the constant state I describe above unless I take the damn pill. I take 5mg in the am. .25 in the afternoon and .25 around 6pm. I would like to take nothing if its the klonopin causing these symptoms now. Any one here of this? Doesn't feel like anxiety now. Help :-[

Bvn,

From what I have been told it's your Cortisol, benzo users have a higher level, so in the AM it's usually the highest.  Which means mornings can be pretty intense anxiety wise.  As cortisol lowers naturally throughout the day you feel less anxiety.  Evenings are usually much more relaxing because the cortisol level is at it's lowest.

I have the same thing.  HATE it.  Usually starts with a willy feeling in my stomach and goes from there.  Every morning like clock work.
