Why Does Anxiety Have to Be All Day

[Tr...]

Recommended Posts

My anxiety is relentless.  Starts my day stays all day long and sometimes into the evening.  This can not be part of the healing process.  I've never had this much anxiety in my life.  Every day.

Can anyone relate or am I the only one experiencing this, it's horrible.

Try that is terrible. I wake with it, i have it all day but then it starts to dissipate in the evening.

When i try to nap during the day, but never can, i get it really really bad.

Yes, Trying, it's part of wd! I'm sorry you are going through that!

I never had anxiety prior to coming off benzos! It was relentless during my taper and the first few months, then gradually improving!

It's no where near as bad now as it used to be!

It will get better, I promise! If you didn't have it before, you won't have it when you heal!

Be well!

I can totally relate! My anxiety has been paralyzing all day.  I start shaking and my back muscles tense whenever I get out of bed.  Sometimes I'm better in the evening but not for the last few days.

I would also like to believe this is part of the healing process and will improve.  Recently it just seems to be getting worse :'(

Try...I shouldnt have stated it that way, disregard!

What i mean is, the lower we get, we may feel new sx...we may have increased sensitivity to our CNS.

I read some people actually feel better the lower they go!!!

Dont take everything we read here and apply it to you, like its going to happen. I should have thought of the way i wrote that before i posted it..

Groove,

Your fine.  I understand.  I meant are the anxiety issues I'm experiencing strictly related to Klonopin.

Try,

Given my absolute rudimentary knowledge of the benzofuckery, my guess would be it's because your GABA receptors have not grown back to induce the calm feeling that benzo-free folks have. When you are decreasing the Klonopin, you skew your brain chemistry and your brain has to readjust to achieve equilibrium. That process of achieving equilibrium is very quick for some folks (no w/d symptoms) and much slower for others (lots of w/d). And some people are just very sensitive to any changes in their nervous system (a lot of us on this site!  ;D). But until those receptors grow back for GABA to grab onto, you will keep experiencing a heightened anxiety state. It'll go away with time when your physiology catches up.

Hugs,

LDR

I just breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth. I go walk in the yard. I just cope...its all we can do.

Avoid as much stress as u can also.

Great,

My slow GABA causing me problems......  I haven't started tapering I'm trying to stabilize from a doc who direct c/o from Lorazepam to Klonopin a month ago.  Last weekend I had minimal anxiety.  This weekend, horrible.

Groove is right! I would do deep breathing, walk, distract with anything I could!

You can get through it! It's so hard, but it will get better!

Great,

My slow GABA causing me problems......  I haven't started tapering I'm trying to stabilize from a doc who direct c/o from Lorazepam to Klonopin a month ago.  Last weekend I had minimal anxiety.  This weekend, horrible.

If you haven't started tapering yet, then it's because your brain has already adjusted to your current k-pin dose. When you started taking benzos, gates of GABA flood your brain - that's what makes us feel so calm initially on them. But then your brain senses that a ton of GABA is there, so it prunes back the GABA receptors to adjust. What ends up happening is to achieve that same level of calmness the person now need a higher dose of benzos - that's how people get caught in the loop. The only way out is to slowly start tapering and forcing those GABA receptors to "unprune."

It's great to hear that you are having windows (minimal anxiety last weekend). It means you are stabilizing and healing!

For me, when I get jolted with anxiety in the morning - I do deep breathing exercises. And they seem to chill me out a bit. Put your hand on your solar plexus and feel it rise to make sure you are doing it right. No shallow breathing here! The key is to not hold your breath, just slow 1-2-3 (through your nose) and 1-2-3 out with your mouth.

The key to deep breathing is to breathe deeply from the abdomen, getting as much fresh air as possible in your lungs. When you take deep breaths from the abdomen, rather than shallow breaths from your upper chest, you inhale more oxygen. The more oxygen you get, the less tense, short of breath, and anxious you feel.

Try the following:

Lay down. Put one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach.

Breathe in through your nose (count 1-2-3 in your head). The hand on your stomach should rise. The hand on your chest should move very little.

Exhale through your mouth (count 1-2-3 in your head), pushing out as much air as you can while contracting your abdominal muscles. The hand on your stomach should move in as you exhale, but your other hand should move very little.

Continue to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Try to inhale enough so that your lower abdomen rises and falls. Count slowly as you exhale.

Long,

I'm going to try that.  I'm wondering if because I switched to compound K I'm having these issues.  This was my first weekend on compound and it feels so strong compared to my generic pill, I'm not sure I can tolerate it.  It's been nonstop anxiety since I've started taking it.

Try

If it was more strong i would think u would have less anxiety Try.

U are in control of this, I mean what med u want to take, hopefully u are. If u felt better on the pill .....then maybe u should talk to your doctor about it.

Groove,

You're right.  I am in control of this.  And, I will be calling him first thing in the am.  The first night I took the compound I felt so drugged the next morning I took the pill.  They are worlds apart.  I'm a light weight to begin with.  I don't like feeling super drugged.

Got to do what's right for me.

Rock on Try! Great attitude! Problem with these meds is that they are not like Tylenol (i.e. I have a headache. I will take a Tylenol to fix my headache. Headache gone). So much with the meds is trial and error until you find something that works (or at least sucks least). If the generic made you feel more like a human being, hell yes go back on it. Sending you oodles of positive vibes.

It's time to kick some Benzo booty, just won't be doing it via Compound.  Starting tomorrow, I already took tonight's dose.....

Thanks Groove aka Warrior

Long,

I'm thinking of compounded pills, the generic wasn't that great.  Either way it's time to handle the situation instead of being handled.
