Is it safe to continue with my plans to taper off the Klonopin poison when also takin Adderrall?

Were you placed on Klonopin to help with the side effects of Adderrall? I've been on multiple stimulants for depression, and they can cause insomnia.

Actually the opposite, as I was put on Klonopin first for sleeping and then given higher dosages to take during the daytime as well for anxiety. Afterwards, I was informed by my psychiatrist to start taking Adderall. So before I taper of Klonopin, what's the best advice going in to this knowing I take Adderrall too?

Why did the doc place you on Adderall? Do you have depression or ADHD? Also, did you want to taper off the Adderall as well?

I was told I had ADHD and put on Adderrall. This was not prescribed to handle any effects of the Klonopin.

 

So I was put on Klonopin first and then Adderall came later but it was never stated why other than "you have ADHD..."

 

I don't want to taper off Adderral, yet, anyway unless I have to. Why? Because my TOP priority is to get off the K poison and I'm curious if staying on the Adderral while will doing so will harm me or interfere with this process.

Here's the problem with being on more than one psychiatric drug - many people report that they become extremely sensitive to other meds during the withdrawal process.

 

So you may be okay, but then again, you may pick up more side effects from the Adderall.

 

My suggestion is to go ahead and set up a taper plan for the Klonopin. As you slowly taper off, if you do pick up any extra side effects from the Adderall, you can make a decision about it then.

 

Hopefully, it won't be a problem and the Adderall will continue to work well for you. Or you may pick up non-drug coping skills that will help with your ADHD.  I'm adding a ton of new skills for helping with depression as I go through the withdrawal process.

And one last question on this subject: As I know benzodiazepines are horrid and I'm facing a long road ahead, do you have any info on how bad withdrawal is from Adderral? My doc says I'll just be fatigued, if I don't take it, which is absolutely true, almost to where I just want to not move at all unless I get that upper in my system to get me moving and motivated. But how long do these Adderral related withdrawal symptoms last, and is this a drug I need to be just as worried about? I know benzodiazepines are serious poison and I've felt the wrath of not being able to have them for 4 miserable days... I thought I was going to die! I'm worried that after the benzo battle is won, I'll have a whole new battle with Adderrall. But even if that's the case, surely it can't be as bad as K withdrawal right? ahhh!!! I hate living like this. I just wish I would've never taken any meds in the first place, this has all ruined my life.

Everyone is different. That being said, many folks (myself included) had problems with even a small amount of caffeine, so yes, you very well may have some problems. Adderall is a stimulant, so it may rev you up more than you're used to.

I came off of Dexedrine, which is similar to Adderall, and didn't have a problem. Of course, I wasn't going through benzo withdrawal at the time.

 

I would start with a gentle 5 - 10% reduction in the Klonopin and then keep a log either online or on paper that lists any symptoms you're having.

 

If you have trouble sleeping, people find online guided count-down sleep meditations to be helpful. Also, mindfulness meditations are great for anxiety, which can be a side effect of stimulant medication, as well as a side effect of Klonopin withdrawal.

 

I wouldn't be as worried about the Adderall as the Klonopin. You're going to be fine. And many (if not most) people come out the other side with more coping skills than anyone else out there.

i have ADD and have been on adderall for 15 years. I could not take it during the early part of my w/d but now i am doing okay taking it daily. Caffeine was much worse than adderall, believe it or not, for making my w/d symptoms worse.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel like adderral is just a way for docs to get us up and moving and able to think after being tranquillized every day

I have a feeling your ADHD symptoms will fade after you come off the benzo. A lot of my depression is gone after coming off of Klonopin.

day 1 of first cut. 5% less the K poison daily moving forward. my anxiety is getting bad. extreme fatigue setting in.

 

the point of this was that I ended up taking 65mg of reg Adderrall today and it seemed to help poise me. I felt as if I were on tilt and this helped bring me back to a world I could focus in, especially under high-stress atmosphere. actually, as I mentioned in a post somewhere else on here today, this would have been a stressful day for anyone and it happened to be on the day of my first cut - but I won - I set a record beating my personal, team's, and company's production records. Day two tomorrow, ready for battle. good luck & good night/morning to all.
