I would like to chat with others who use benzos to treat anxiety.

Hi, my name is Ashleigh.  My psychiatrist has chosen to treat my hypochondria/anxiety with Citalopram (30mg daily) and Alprazolam (0.5mg as needed).  I am very happy with the Citalopram, but I am concerned about my benzo use, although I do not take more than I am prescribed.

Welcome to benzobuddies. Glad you found us. 

 

You will find a lot of information and support here.  It's good that you're questioning the use of meds such as Alprazolam because it doesn't take long at all to cause significant problems. I never took more than was prescribed, either. However, I developed a severe tolerance to a benzodiazepine.

 

How much Alprazolam are you currently taking and for how long have you been taking it? Please let us know a little more so we can help you.

 

A good resource about benzodiazepines is the Ashton Manual. Here is a link to the manual: Professor Ashtons Manual  It’s great for learning about these meds and for taper plans. Ashton recommends reducing between 5 - 10% every 10/14 days.
