My experience in the mh was they bumped me from 10 mgs to 25. Then 50 the next day my hair was falling out then my c- diff went full blown. That wAs a month ago now I tried dropping back then from 50 to 25 and had bad migraines Ive been at 35 for a while now and cant tell if its helping or hurting.  My pdoc reccomends I go up to 40 now to try to stabilize my depression more before I taper on the librium. Its a tricylic my body doesn't tolerate ssris very well. Has anyone else tried this what wAs your experience what do you guys think? Any answers would be great ty! Mo2

I took Doxepin many many years ago.  It was called Sinaquaan way back in the days.

It actually did make me feel pretty good.  It made life doable and it didn't have me pinging off of walls.  The biggest side effect that made me have to move on was that I couldn't quit eating.  I gained quite a bit of weight in a very short time.

There is a new sleeping aid that is basically doxepin but in a lighter dose called Silenor... might be an exit strattegy for you down the road.

I don't think so.

I took it for about 3 to 6 months.  Again.. it was the fact that I couldn't stop eating and the excessive dry mouth drove me nuts.

I was in really bad shape about 3 or 4 months ago and told the dr to put me on it for a short time.  I weaned off with Silenor so I didn't have much issues coming off of it.

No my hair did not fall out that i know of.

  • 4 weeks later...

I tried last night 25mg to try get some sleep. Normally for sleep this drug is prescribed 3-6 mg but I didn't know yesterday.

I took it and I did not feel anything for a couple of hours but then I could sleep and very well. I would like to know if I can take it as antidepressant as well.
