tapering ideas for 10 mg valium--need ideas thanks!

i am taking 10 mg v after crossing over from ativan which i was on for 2 1/2 months. and i have 2 weeks before beginning to taper. it was suggested to taper 1mg at 2ml for about 2 weeks and see how i felt, and i figured in my computations that if i cut through titration 2ml for 2 weeks, felt good, and then went to 3 ml and just kept it there, that i about 6 weeks i'd hit the 100 ml mark and i would have rduced 1 mg, and just to keep going like that.

my psychiatrist has me dosing 5x right now with 2 mg pills, i.e. 4 a.m. 8 a.m. noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. because he wanted me to just eliminate a pill a month, finishing in 6 months, kinda the ashton method, but evryone  i've spoken with has said that is too harsh and to titrate. i don't mind losing 1 mg every 6 weeks or so and taking my other doses and seeing what happens as the numbers go down, i.e. 10, 9, etc.

my problem is that i am a little confused here. my first dose is at 4 a.m. so don't i take the 2 mg pill, cut in half making  2 1 mg pills (halves) and take the one orally and titrate the other like i said above, i.e. 2 ml for 2 weeks, then 3ml until 100---and i would take the other doses throughout the day just orally?

then i would just keep doing this---or did i get this totally confused.

someone suggested just titrate the 2m but i don't know how to do that and since it was already suggested that cutting through elimination would be horrible, ie.  i'm going down 2mg a month---maybe taking up to 2 weeks before feeling any symptoms and then taking 2 weeks to get over them---and do this for 6 months, i can't imagine doing that. i know i've only been on ativan for 2 1/2 months and just crossover and am holding, but wouldn't that be months of sufffering.

so have i misunderstood this, i.e. if i had 1mg pills (i wish) i would just take that and titrate and drink and take the other pills orally throughout the day and keep going. is this what is meant by cut the pill in half, titrate the one, and then just wait for my regular 2mg dose and the next day use the other half--is this what is meant-

so i need confirmation on what i just said in the last paragraph and also comments on commenting 2mg at a time through titration. thanks everyone!

Not a doctor. However, Valium is long acting, that is why Prof. Ashton prefers it. Do you have to have it—I am also titrating off Valium—so often throughout the day? That would make me even more nuts. I am not doing so well, please consider that when reading this post. I am up and down around the 20 mg mark. Was holding on 18 mg, then had a surgery, then just a failure, up to 22 mg per day. I recommend, will do this myself, reviewing the Ashton protocol.

I believe she mentions twice a day...in fact, I am going there right now. There was a glorious time when I was going down, yet not THINKING about the

pills every hour. That was easier. Wish you all the best.
