The OTC sleep aids that worked before no longer work

I may have overused sleeping pills. I used them everyday for many months. I have used Melatonin. doxylamine succinate as in some unisom  products. Benadryl ot the active ingredient in it.

Trazodone or Elavil never did work and are prescription. I rather not use these prescription meds.

 

Is it possible I have built up a tolerance to the OTC sleeping pills? When they did work I could sleep for 7 to 8 hours. Has anyone found that they will start to work again after they stop taking them for a certain time? I have also tried Magnesium supplements and these never did work for me

yes it is a repeat post Sorry. I have bad benzo brain as well as bad insomnia and I am not thinking clearly at all.

Sometimes I want to go and try sleeping pills again but it scares me the same thing that happened will happen again
