Getting of ativan after a few weeks

I have just been on ativan and xanax for about 4 weeks. I am planning to get off them, with the help of my GP. I am looking for more info,

Welcome to the forum. You mention taking both Ativan and Xanax, were you taking both drugs concurrently?  The good thing is you are a very short time user.  Benzos truly are designed for limited use, that is, about 2-3 weeks.  After that the risk for dependency becomes very strong.

 

What kind of taper plan is your GP recommending?  For short time use, we normally recommend a more rapid taper. The longer you stay on drugs like these, more firmly entrenched dependency can become. 

 

Once you give us some more information, such as the dose you are taking, we can better give you information and support.
