Help with Remeron Taper, Please!

[al...]

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My sleep specialist recently informed me that he cannot help me with my chronic insomnia and has decided to quit my Remeron. Any suggestion on how to taper off this drug?

I already have a lot of anxiety, nausea, and difficulty with appetite.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Did you feel nausea or difficulty eating afterwards? I was also put on this med for these reasons so worried it will come back. Thanks for the response!

Concerning builder's taper, I think it is wonderful he was able to discontinue the drug so smoothly, but really, I think you may want to also consider doing a search for some of the more lengthy Remeron threads to attempt to get as full a breadth of information as possible.

Also, as you probabaly are aware, the drug is somewhat unique in that certain mg threshold's produce very different responses-- 7-15 is generally the sedating range, but the 20-30+ similair to builder's dose is meant to act more as an AD-- and it's sedating effects become significantly more diminished. It's also confusing as to why more doctor's don't make this clear to patients, but that's irrelevant here I suppose.

Just as with Benzos, there isn't really a 'magic number' regarding taper time. At the same time, there is a significant difference between 2 weeks and 2-4 months, so I would attempt to try and weigh your dose and time on drug with other people who had a similair range, and see how they fared with their own tapers. More specific knowledge like this can be powerful in the long-run.
