Tapering from valium with Ora-Plus

[Or...]

Recommended Posts

Tapering off valium. Down to ~17.25mg. Only have 10mg tablets (Qualitest Pharmaceuticals) no option for 5 or 2mg. I want to start using Ora-Plus for accuracy. Is this a good idea? Read different opinions here. Thanks

Hello Orahelp   Welcome to benzobuddies

Sorry your unable to get  prescription for 5 and 2 mgs Valium  I am not familiar with using Ora Plus, so I am not sure if its a good idea or not, hopefully one of our knowledgeable members will chime in here. We have a great community here who will support and encourage. Members here have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

I will leave you some links here you might find useful:

“Professor Ashtons Manual” It is an authoritative resource on benzodiazepines and how to withdraw

Titration Taper Plans Board

Withdrawal Support

I found a couple of short threads on this subject: I hope you get something from them

Who uses Ora Plus for daily tapering?

Ora Plus and diazepam

If you would be so kind as to add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice this link will show you how to”Create a signature”

Welcome aboard

Hi Orahelp,

i would keep searching for a Doctor till i found one. even if he has no clue how to get

people off Valium, just for precriptions so to speak. experimenting with Ora-Plus

for accuracy sounds like a gamble, not sure if one will succeed.

warm welcome from me too

and good luck.

Claudia. :)

Hello Orahelp,

I too would like to welcome you to the forum  :)

Congratulations on your taper so far!

I dont have personal experience with the Ora Plus but I know some members have used it to make a valium suspension for tapering purposes. I believe that the ora-plus is designed to be used either full strength or mixed 50/50 with something else like water. I agree with Claudia, I think you'd fare much better if you could get hold of the lower strength diazepam tablets, preferably 2 mg, this would make life easier for you for tapering purposes. However, I wish you the very best with the taper and I'm glad you found us.

hello Ora.......i've never used it but you definitely could. that's what it was made for. to make a 'suspension.' kind of expensive, though. wouldn't you feel safer with having a true solution? if yes, then using vodka/water or even miralax ( polyethylene glycol ) would be a better ( and much cheaper ) way to go...bjunk.

Thanks for all the replies.

After a lot of reading, I bought 10ml and 1ml syringes and a bottle of everclear 151 proof grain alc. I have been putting 1 - 10mg V pill in 2 ml alc, letting it break down for a couple of hrs then adding 98 ml of water and gently using a cocktail straw to gently mix (not stir). I find that a lot of sediment quickly settles (I assume additives but too scared it is V so I dose immediately).

I am going to continue for 10 days total and see how I feel.

Hello OraHelp.  If you use the search feature here you will see some members, such as Bart, had good results tapering with OraPlus. http://www.benzobuddies.org/forum/index.php?action=search

I have never used alcohol to dissolve diazepam but it seems like a good method.  There was too much detail in Aweigh's posting on this for me to go through, especially as I had jumped by the time he posted it.  His technique is drawn from his considerable experience of working in labs and you may find it interesting.  http://www.benzobuddies.org/forum/index.php?topic=113953.new#new

2 hrs. to let it dissolve is much too long..you can mash the pill with something while it's sitting in the alcohol and be done in one minute. also, by letting it just sit there for two hours, you run the risk (albeit a small one) of letting some of your dose evaporate with the everclear....
