More Test?

Recommended Posts

I went to my GI doctor today.  I've had two endos, nothing found not even gastritis, and my gallbladder removed during all this.  He wants more testing, gastric emptying test, some kind of barium swallow x-ray that checks your stomach and colon.  I have not had a colonoscopy due to I don't think I can do the prep.  All these test gives me so much anxiety.  Just going to the doctor gives me anxiety, nausea and weak limbs.  I feel better after leaving the doctors office somewhat.

How do you know if it is all withdrawals or if you just have anxiety and depression causing all this.  I'm 11 months out and I have no relief.  If is is anxiety and depression maybe it is not going to get any better, how would you know?

I'm thinking about going for therapy to see if that would help.  Has anyone benefited from that?

The 'prep' for a colonoscopy ain't fun, but it's way easier than withdrawing from benzos (just to try to put it into perspective).  A day sucking down PVP and sitting on the can, a couple of hours in the office, then it's over.  Then you get to eat and maybe even treat yourself to some ice cream.

I'm guessing that your anxiety is both from your regular anxiety and from the withdrawal.  Therapy has definitely helped me to find with my 'normal' anxiety, and I've been better able to find calm seas during times of turmoil.  I have moved from an 'anxious' state to a 'resigned' state for many things.  'Resigned' is not an ideal state, but it feels closer to 'acceptance' than 'anxious' felt.

Hey mama, I also had a lot of those tests, they were all fine. I'm done with tests. I know all of my symptoms are withdrawal because I didn't have any of this before and they are just to weird.

If you think professional therapy would help you, go for it. It never hurts to have some talk therapy.

My therapy is my husband, BB, and anything I can do to pass time.

I sure hope you find some relief. :smitten:

badsocref,

Thanks for your reply.  I think I've been in denial that I had any anxiety.  I started taking xanax for sleep.  I think I'm now realizing that I did.  That is a good way to describe it, a normal anxiety.

Hi Beulah!

I really don't have anyone to talk to so I think I might look into therapy.  I have got to do something or I'm afraid I'm going to wither away to nothing.

Hope you are doing well.
