Moderators or Success Stories.. SOS... some of us newbies need taper advice

Thanks in advance to all of my BBs who are helping me figure out my taper/

A few of us have posted on Klonopin Klub and we are getting conflicting answers.... I think we are having trouble with math. :(

If I do a 10% taper from my 1.5mg K daily dose....  How would I do that mathematically?

I am working with 3 pills at .5mg each.  Each pill weighs approximately .173 on the scale.

Am I subtracting 10% from each .5mg pill that weighs .173 (=.156) in order to subtract 10% from each of my daily doses of 1.5mg (=1.35mg)?

OR

Am I subtracting 10% from one of three pills each time I taper?

Obviously I need to hold for 3-4 weeks to find out what sx I will have....

Then what would the next taper be?

And so on and so forth....?

Please help!  I know precision is key here and we all want to start the taper right.

Your help is appreciated in advance!

S :)

A 10% cut from your total daily dose would mean shaving 10% from EACH PILL.  A 10% cut from one pill is a 3.33% cut.  Remember each pill weighs .173g so you total weight for the daily dose is .173g x3=.519g.

FWIW I want to mention that IMO shaving one pill is the better option and is not slower as it will take you less time to recover from the 3.33% cut, yet the symptoms you experience will be less intense.  I'll bet you can cut 3.33% three times (for a total of 10%) and recover three times in the same amount of time it takes you to cut 10% and recover.  Same speed, but more comfortable.

Hi there -

Just want to share a thought on making a % reduction.

Clarification on % of what? is needed when referring to making a reduction for those tapering more than 1 tablet more than once daily.

% of TOTAL daily reduction or % of each tablet. Obviously if one were to reduce the TOTAL daily reduction for each tablet it could cause some major problems.

For example:

Reducing 10% of 1.5m(.519mcg) using 3- .5mg(.0173mcg) tablets

10% of 1.5=.15mg(.0519mcg)

10% of  .5=.05mg(.005mcg)

If one were to remove .15mg(.051mcg TOTAL reduction) from 3 - .5mg tablets instead of .005mcg this would =.45mg(.153mcg) a huge 30% cut  :o

This mistake is very easy to make while in  tapering madness & could escalate ones symptoms if not caught.

I hope this makes sense & helps those who maybe confused.
