I have updosed from 1,5 to 4mg over a couple of months

I am on the 18 day on 4MG things were not too bad however things are getting worse

Can this happen and then they will even out again

No one really knows how this will go.  If it were happening to me I guess I'd think about tapering back down if the updose not only isn't helping but seems to be making things worse.

I have never up dosed nor used a long acting benzodiazepine, so this is just my two cents.

Snapper, just looking at your sig it looks like you are cutting too much. Dropping from 4mgs to 3 is a 25% chop.

Just a thought but maybe try to stabilize for a month or so til you feel your body is ready for another cut and make that next cut much smaller.

I did my V. taper pretty much like you are. I did updose once or twice but it only "helped" for a day and then things went downhill and got worse.

I found that regardless of how I felt I would make my cut ever 2 weeks. For me, holding longer never seemed to help so I figured why not cut.  The lower I got on V. the less I would stabilize.

It was suggested by several of us that it may not work. Now that it hasn't, please resist the urge to go higher. You don't want to be stuck like Oscar, on 3 mgs and in tolerance for the last 2.5 yrs, complaining every day.

I just posted to you on another thread, keagan…not sure what's up, but you're being disrespectful.  Here's what I posted to you on the other thread:

Actually, that's not a very fair thing to say. Oscar is doing much better now. He's not here "complaining every day". In fact I just checked and the last time he was here was at the end of June, when he reported to be doing a lot better. He is here at the moment posting, and he still seems to be doing a lot better. So I don't understand why you would be trying to put such a negative spin on Oscar's taper. I think it's important to correct what you said, because it doesn't give anyone who isn't doing so well any hope at all. We are all cheering for Oscar at the moment, because he is doing so well.

Well, definitely not a cold turkey. My suggestion would be wait the month. Then we can talk about how you want to proceed from there with a taper.

What are your main problems as far as side effects at the moment? Maybe there are things you could take that will help ease them. Sleep is one of the main problems that most people have, but there is an over the counter antihistamine that a lot of people find very helpful called doxylamine. It's sold under a number of brand names depending on where you live. The names I know of are Dozile, Restavit, Sleep Aid and Unisom.

That was one of the things I tried which helped derail my taper

I took 1/2 pill unisom next day high anxiety all day and night I finally gave in and updosed

Which Unisom did you use because I believe there are two. The one that contains doxylamine seems to be the one that people seem to tolerate better. I believe the other one contains Diphenhydramine hydrochloride which I have read some people don't tolerate as well (I think they are called Unisom "sleepgels"). Of course not everyone can take the same medications, and you might just not be able to take the doxylamine either.

I recently came down from 5mg Valium to 2.5.  Took 3 months (on doctor's advice though another GP disagreed and said this was too quick).  5 to 4 was bearable, 4 to 3 a bit worse and 3mg to 2.5 horrendous.  My doc still wanted me to drop 1mg rather than 0.5.  I've changed to the more knowledgeable lady GP but she's on holiday.  My daughter (a psychologist) wants me to go back up to 3mg but I know from past experience that going up again isn't easy and not always the answer.  I've been on 2.5 for about 6 weeks now - any advice welcome!  (Original plan was to come down micro amounts using liquid but don't feel ready) :-\.
